HIS PRESENCE!
Do you have a yearning within you? A yearning that keeps you searching and searching but to no avail. A yearning that has taken you to different places but still, you feel empty. You’ve asked yourself countless times “who am i looking for? Or what am i looking for?”. A yearning that feels as though you are incomplete. As human beings, we yearn for the presence of God. We seek his love, his comfort and his promises. During the time of Moses and The Isrealites, God made his presence available to his people through a cloud by day and fire by night. They felt secure, knowing that God was with them every step of their journey. No one, not even the mightiest of kingdoms could touch the Isrealites. Their enemies were deeply afraid because they knew Yarweh was with them. Hallelujah, our God is mighty!
GOD IS WITH YOU!
God is everywhere! He never sleeps, nor does he take vacations. Inviting God into our lives means allowing him to lead. It means allowing him to take his rightful place in our hearts and to fill the void! God is the missing piece of the puzzle that is our lives. Think about it! Our bodies are temples and in that temple lies a seat. A seat that can only be filled with the spirit of God “The Holy Spririt”. Jesus Christ died for us, therefore paying the price for our sins. All who believe in Jesus Christ will receive the gift of The Holy spirit.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 reads, “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies”.
Having God in our lives is both a privilege and a blessing. Just knowing that he will always be there is very reassuring and comforting. The feeling of security and protection is very evident.
There is no burden or problem that God cannot solve. He is the God of possibilities and impossibilities. So we should go to him and pray. Our prayers are our weapons against the Devil, against temptation and all that comes from darkness. When we pray, God listens. When our tears flow, he feels the sadness in our hearts. He feels every emotion that we experience.
Psalm 55 :22 reads’ “Cast your burden on the Lord, And He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved”.
We should build a relationship with God based on love and truth. A relationship where there is complete honesty, faithfulness, and openness. A relationship where no lies are told but all things are revealed.
What is an Addiction?
An addiction is a behavioral, compulsive, obsessive disorder that involves reward and a lack of concern for consequences.
Biblically, an addiction is a form of temptation that is destructive to our health, our mind, our bodies and those around us. In spiritual terms, an addiction is demonic oppression. Many of us suffer from all kinds of addictions.
Examples of addictions:-
1. Eating to satisfy emotional needs
2. The use of drugs and alchohol to supress pain or trauma
3. The use of pornography to satisfy sexual desires
4. Excessive shopping to mask insecurities
5. Gambling
All these things are not good for us. Instant gratification does not equal to long term satisfaction. When we do these things, we sometimes don’t realize how bad or how dangerous the consequences could be. We don’t truly understand the damage that it can cause until we find ourselves unable to willingly stop. And that’s when the feeling of regret sets in! we start regretting our decisions and choices. We begin thinking back to when and how it all began. That critical moment when we ignored good reason. By this point, we are desperately looking for a way out. We begin wishing we could go back in time. We say to ourselves ,” If only i never did that or did this”, “If only i had listened to good advice” or ” If only i had listened to my conscience”. We ask ourselves so many questions, while slowly slipping into a state of intense confusion. We don’t realize that the self blaming thoughts that we hear constantly in our minds are from the enemy. We don’t realize these thoughts are there to keep us bound. But there is Good news!
Regardless of what addictions or temptations we face, God still loves us. He cares about us so much that he is literally waiting for us to reach out. God is able to save, deliver, heal and restore anyone or anything that he wants to.
1 Corinthians 10:13 reads, “No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it”.
We all make mistakes and there is absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. We shouldn’t allow our pride or ego to get in the way of our healing. We shouldn’t allow shame and secrecy to get in the way of our deliverance. We shouldn’t worry about what other people think or say because it has nothing to do with them. Everybody’s struggle is individually unique. The most important thing is to confess our sins, ask for forgiveness and repent. Yarweh is the way.
HELPFUL WAYS TO DEAL WITH ADDICTION!
1. Find something good to do that makes you feel happy. You know, a new hobby or two! E.g go for a walk, watch a tv show, knit, play sports, gardening etc
1 peter 5:8 reads, “Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour”.
2. Think of good things. Reject and Capture all negative thoughts in your mind. Pray to God for healing and a sound mind.
3. Write down the truth about your identity in the bible. Write down verses that speak about the promises of God. Say positive things about yourself everyday or write them on sticky notes etc.
4. Change your environment. Stay away from places or people that can influence you in a negative way. You don’t have to completely cut someone off but you can keep a healthy distance.
1 corinthians 15:33 reads, “Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals”.
5. Forgive yourself and know that your past has nothing to do with your future. Know that you are free. Believe that God has a plan for you and that he will set you on the right path. Just give him a chance to love you!
John 8:36 reads, “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed”.
In conclusion, we are all very special to God and he wants us to live good, healthy and productive lives. He want’s us to love each other and to live righteously. So no more living in the past, no more guilt, and no more regrets. Its time we start living the way God wants us to live. It’s time for us to reclaim our freedom. God is love, God is the truth, and God is Alpha and Omega. Glory be to Yarweh!
Father king of glory, we thank you for everything you do for us. Father, we come to you today to ask for healing. We ask that you cleanse our bodies, minds, and souls. Please forgive us for our mistakes and help us begin anew. Please help us to live a happy and healthy life. In Jesus mighty name we pray, Amen
Matthew 6:9-13 reads, “In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen”.
