HOW TO PUT A STOP TO WORRY!

HOW TO PUT A STOP TO WORRY!

A busy mind can be very troubling! Our minds are capable of many things. Sometimes, when we are going through tough times, we end up worrying so much that we miss out on life itself. We are stressed, and anxious to the point we can barely function properly. So how do we put a stop to this? The answer is God. God is able to save, deliver, heal and restore anything and anyone he wants to. Anxiety and stress is NOT from God.

TEMPTATIONS AND TRIALS OF LIFE!

Psalm 42:6-11, ” O my God, my soul is cast down within me; Therefore I will remember You from the land of the Jordan, And from the heights of Hermon, From the Hill Mizar. Deep calls unto deep at the noise of Your waterfalls; All Your waves and billows have gone over me. The Lord will command His loving kindness in the daytime, And in the night His song shall be with me– A prayer to the God of my life. I will say to God my Rock, “Why have You forgotten me? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?” As with a breaking of my bones, My enemies reproach me, While they say to me all day long, “Where is your God?” Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; For I shall yet praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God”.

Here we see King David having a “downcast” moment. His enemies are taunting him, he is anxious, stressed and desperately searching for God. The attack of the enemy and the trials of life are too much for him to bare. Regardless of everything going on in his life, his trust in God is unshakable and unbreakable. It is times like these that we need to seek God from the depths of our hearts. Deep in our souls. The Psalmist says “Deep calls to deep”! This is in reference to where our feelings are coming from. When we reach down from within our souls and speak to God, he hears us and he comes to our rescue. Think about it! The best way to reach someone’s heart is to reach down from your soul and speak from the heart.

YOUR WORRIES AND ANXIETIES!

Jesus Christ is aware of our worries and anxieties! In this passage we are going to look at some words of wisdom in regards to some of the issues we face on a daily basis.

Luke 12:1-3 reads, “In the meantime, when an innumerable multitude of people had gathered together, so that they trampled one another, He began to say to His disciples first of all, “Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known. Therefore whatever you have spoken in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have spoken in the ear in inner rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops”.

Here we see Jesus cautioning his Disciples about the pharisees. Back then, the pharisees were known to appear clean. Many were leaders in their communities and they acted high and mighty because they thought that they knew everything about the laws and commandments of God. They were arrogant and believed that they knew everything about who God was, and what he would do in every situation. This is also known as self-deception! Jesus reminds them that the pharisees are the same as anybody else and he tells them not to fall for their hypocrisy and slick tongue because many of them were not as holy as they claimed or appeared to be. He let’s them know that God can hear everything. Whatever is said behind your neighbor’s back, will be heard and nothing will be hidden.

This is important because there are so many people that appear Clean (holy and righteous) but on the inside they are not. Unfortunately, some of them claim to be religious leaders but have abused their power and statuses in society. They take advantage of others and use the bible as a tool to further their own agendas. We are children of God, therefore when we come across these kinds of people, we should not do what they are doing but instead pray for them.

Luke 12:4 reads, “And I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that they have no more that they can do”.

Here we see Jesus telling his disciples not to be afraid of wicked people because the worst they can do is kill the body. The wicked will always try to use fear to knock us down but they are not mighthier than God. So begin today, and pray! Pray and ask God to remove any fears remaining in your body.

Luke 12:6-7 reads, “Are not five sparrows sold for two copper coins? And not one of them is forgotten before God.  But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows”.

Here Jesus reassures his disciples that they are very special to God. He also makes a point to them that all things created by God are important but human beings are of more value. This is important because as human beings, sometimes we wonder if we are important to God. We do this usually in times of worry and anxiety. But rest assured, each and every one of us is special to God. So if you know anyone going through depression, a “downcast” moment or anxiety, please let them know that God himself, said that they are special and that he loves them very much. Sometimes, a few words of encouragement and love can mean the difference between life and death for somebody.

Luke 12:8-9 reads, “Also I say to you, whoever confesses Me before men, him the Son of Man also will confess before the angels of God. But he who denies Me before men will be denied before the angels of God”.

Here we see Jesus giving his disciples some important information to carry in their hearts. He says whoever believes in him and accepts him as “The son of God” openly and in front of others, he will also openly speak of them to the Angels of God. But whoever rejects and denies him openly and in front of others will also be denied openly in front of the Angels of God.

Luke 12:11-12 reads, “Now when they bring you to the synagogues and magistrates and authorities, do not worry about how or what you should answer, or what you should say. For the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say.”

Back then, a lot of believers were persecuted because they acknowledged Jesus Christ as the son of God. Jesus tells his disciples not to worry about what to say because “The Holy Spirit” will teach them what to say in the very hour. This is important because so many of us worry about what to say in the midst of trials and adversities. We worry about how to stand up for justice and defend ourselves against the wicked. But rest assured, for God has it under control. The Holy Spirit is always on time and never late. We are truly blessed!

Luke 12:13-15 reads, “Then one from the crowd said to Him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.” But He said to him, “Man, who made Me a judge or an arbitrator over you?” And He said to them, “Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses”.

During the time of Jesus, there were no courts. Family disputes were usually resolved by Rabbis on the basis of existing laws. The pharisees were responsible for interpreting the law and the saducees were responsible for upholding the law. When it came to inheritance, the eldest son usually received a double portion of the inheritance and was also responsible for diving up the rest of the inheritance between family members. It looks like the younger brother did not receive his portion of the inheritance, that is why he went to Jesus with the problem. Jesus refused to get involved, not because he wanted to be mean. But he wanted the younger brother to think carefully about what is most important. The things of this world are not as important as the things of God. He also advised the multitudes not to covet things in this world because their lives do not consist in the abundance of things they possess.

Luke 12:16-32 reads, “Then He spoke a parable to them, saying: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded plentifully. And he thought within himself, saying, ‘What shall I do, since I have no room to store my crops?’ So he said, ‘I will do this: I will pull down my barns and build greater, and there I will store all my crops and my goods. And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; eat, drink, and be merry.” But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?’ So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God. Then He said to His disciples, “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; nor about the body, what you will put on. Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing. Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap, which have neither storehouse nor barn; and God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds? And which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? If you then are not able to do the least, why are you anxious for the rest?” And do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind. For all these things the nations of the world seek after, and your Father knows that you need these things. But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you. Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom”.

Here we see Jesus speaking about a man who had a lot of crops and wanted to store them all in a huge barn. But then God said to him “This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided”. This is important because our lives can be taken away anytime and any minute but all those material things we store will not go with us. Therefore, we should not focus on these things. Instead, we should focus on God. Jesus Christ also says we should not worry about anything we need to survive because God will provide it. He already knows what we need and doesn’t want us to worry or be abxious about these things. He wants our minds to be at peace and to flourish. Jesus Christ also says “If you then are not able to do the least, why are you anxious for the rest?”. What he is trying to say is that, if we are not able to add an hour to our life, then why are we worried about accumulating wealth? He is saying that we should becareful and to not focus on accumulating things.

Many of us might say “but how can i not worry when there is so much to worry about?”. Well…the answer is Trust, Faith and Obedience! When we Trust God, we are leaving everything in his hands. We are giving him total control and freeing our minds. When we have faith in God, we are believing in his power and provisions. There is no need to worry about how he will provide because he is God. We should allow him to be God! When we obey his commands, we are showing him that we trust and love him. All these things are connected! May God continue to bless and provide for us all through the days of our lives, Amen.

God knows any and everything! As christians, our belief and trust in God is very important. We know that God loves us very much that he provides for us even without us asking him to. Our faith is also connected to our obedience to God, so we should continually work hard to strengthen this faith, because it will help us live Good and Holy lives. Our God is wonderful!

In conclusion, we are to obey God, trust in his commands and his laws because he is the one and only omnipotent and benevolent God. He will provide everything we need. Glory be to yarweh.
